haley meyer

Life-altering experiences can cause us to feel physically and emotionally unsafe. After these experiences, we often ruminate on the past, overthink and worry about the future, and expect that something bad may happen. Daily tasks can become difficult, and sometimes talking feels like it makes things worse. Imagine feeling secure, safe, and enjoying everyday things without worrying about what’s next or living in the past. It is possible to find a way to accept things as they are, reconnect with the people you care about, and enjoy the things that mean the most to you.

Meyer doesn’t believe that we need to talk through every detail to achieve healing. She uses a combination of traditional therapies and EMDR to shift from negative thoughts and responses to more positive adaptive beliefs and behaviors. Her practice supports healing by encouraging autonomy, helping you feel more present, even-tempered, and free from the things that weigh you down.

Haley Meyer has worked with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, and other adverse experiences. Through a holistic approach where the focus is not only on current struggles but also on how to move forward, Meyer is adept at helping others live a life full of meaningful experiences and relationships.

Suzanne Wertman

Suzanne Wertman has twenty-five years’ experience providing midwifery care to people of all ages and backgrounds in public, private and non-profit settings.

As a consultant in state government affairs for the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), Suzanne organized teams of midwife volunteer leaders from across the country to advocate for policy solutions to the maternal health crisis. In her last clinical role, she provided sexual and reproductive healthcare at Planned Parenthood in Wilmington, North Carolina.  She taught nurse practitioner and nurse-midwife students at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and East Carolina University. Suzanne also worked as a nurse-midwife in the United States Virgin Islands and San Francisco, California.

Her lifelong passion for intersectional approaches to community building and reproductive justice started when she was an undergraduate student at Mount Holyoke College. Suzanne built on this learning and passion when she worked in the Netter Center for Community Partnerships during graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and she is learning every day how to be an effective anti-racist co-conspirator. In her midwifery practice she became attuned to the physical and mental effects of trauma and the essential nature of using a trauma-informed lens in healthcare. In the Duke/Johnson Johnson Nurse Leadership Program, she developed an effective intervention to help midwife leaders learn Daring Leadership skills. Suzanne envisions a world of compassionate, respectful maternal health leaders who are healing from trauma, stress, and burnout.
