Public Speaking & Communication Skills

Franchon Francees, the founder of Healing Your Almond, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Certified Trauma Resilience Trainer, as well as a well-respected leader in the mental health space.  One of her passions is bringing wellness into the workplace.  We often try to separate health, work, and life.  Franchon supports the work/life blend mindset.

Franchon was featured on Coast 97.3 FM - mainstream Urban format in the Wilmington metro area - each week for a year speaking on wellness-related topics suggested or requested by the listeners. A part of her message is ensuring this life-changing knowledge is accessible to everyone. Her most popular show was on the topic of ‘Where did you learn it’s not okay to cry?’ In that episode, Francees unpacks the notion that crying is a bad thing. It shows weakness and vulnerability. She even engaged her co-host Bigg B when he mentioned that growing up he was told that instead of crying or showing emotion he should “suck it up” and as a male that set the tone for his adolescent years.

Francees believes that mental health should be discussed more openly and understood by all. She specializes in trauma and emotional intelligence to help companies address employee stress and team efficiency. Her quick smile and charming personality make Francees a sought-after authority on mental health that can foster peak performance in the workplace, stamina, and success. She speaks on a diverse range of topics including:

  • The power of No.  In many cases, we have been conditioned to view “No.” as a bad thing.  We sometimes struggle to say it other times we struggle to hear it.  Franchon shares personal stories of all the ‘Nos’ she has had along her journey.  No to some college, no to grants and fellowships, no in relationships.  Franchon helps you to see how No is really direction and opportunity.

  • The garden of your Brain.  Human development teaches us the frontal lobe sometimes is not fully developed until the age of 25, this means that your entire life before that, your brain is like a very fertile garden.  The seeds that others have planted impact you know.  Franchon helps you to identify your flowers, weeds, and trees.  Are you ready to do some brain gardening?

  • Customized.Franchon’s favorite topic is your choice. She enjoys meeting with organizations and finding out what they would like to accomplish. What is going on with your people? What sort of space do they need? Do they need to be uplifted? Do they need the courage to have difficult conversations? Do they need space and validation to feel? Franchon’s goal is to educate, challenge, and inspire.

Film Industry, Success and Mental Health

In May 2020 Francees sat down and recorded a session with Chris Everett, director of the award-winning film Wilmington on Fire and Keyona Williams. Keyona Williams is a first-generation college graduate, education facilitator, and a proud Alumnus from Communities Cape Fear Region. In this session Chris and Franchon address the stress in the documentary film process and encourage the filmmakers to consider ways to be healthier.

LETTING ANGER GO

It has been said, “When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what’s happening.” Early in 2020 Francees spoke to her Coast 97.3 listeners about choosing to let the anger go. She expertly points out that in a number of situations where anger is harbored there is also an element of deniability in regards to self-blame and that humans typically tend to get angry rather than work through the actual roots of the situation.
